Senior Instructor & Founder: Adam Summerford

Welcome to Python Combat Arts

My name is Adam Summerford, and I bring a lifetime of martial arts experience and dedication to teaching practical self-defense. Here's a bit about my journey:

• Military Service: I served four years in the U.S. Army, two years in the Tennessee National Guard, and was an NCO in the Alabama State Defense Force until its disbandment. My time in the military taught me discipline, resilience, and the importance of adaptability in high-pressure situations.
• Training in Krav Maga: In 2006, I had the privilege of learning Krav Maga principiles and techniques directly from the Israeli Soldiers. This experience gave me invaluable insights into real-world combat scenarios and techniques.
• Martial Arts Foundations: From the age of 9 to 18, I trained extensively in martial arts weapons under the guidance of my uncle, David Summerford, a 3rd-degree black belt in Yosukai Karate. This early foundation in weapons training set the stage for my lifelong passion for martial arts.
• Advanced Instruction: I was mentored by Doug Welsh, a 10th-degree black belt in American Tiger Karate, for about a year. His expertise helped refine my techniques and deepen my understanding of martial arts.
• Founder of Python Combat Arts: Over the past 10 years, I’ve been developing Python Combat Arts, a practical and adaptive self-defense system designed to be effective in real-life situations. This system combines my military experience, formal martial arts training, and insights gained through consulting with numerous martial arts masters. Python Combat Arts emphasizes adaptability, simplicity, and effectiveness, making it accessible for anyone seeking to learn how to protect themselves.
